Mt. Shasta

Mt. Shasta dominates the landscape around it. It rises up 14,000 ft as a lone mountain. Mt. Shasta's impressive nature has attracted many legends and supernatural beliefs including a legend about a race lizard people called Lemurians that supposedly live in the mountain. In several trips to the Shasta area, I have yet to encounter a Lemurian or any other supernatural phenomenon.

Mt. Shasta is a hidden gem as it is very scenic and relatively uncrowded. This is visit was on memorial day weekend and while the hotels were all full, the natural areas didn't feel overly crowded as many scenic areas of California do on holidays.
