New York City - November 2015

Having visited New York multiple times, I no longer feel compelled to see as much as humanly possible. I can take a more leisurely approach, mixing in stops at New York's world class cocktail bars with the tourist sites.

On this trip, I visited both UN Headquarters and the 9/11 Memorial for the first time. I was fortunate to get an extended tour of UN Headquarters, courtesy of my brother who works for UN. Seeing the General Assembly Hall and thinking about all the world leaders who have spoken at the podium was awe inspiring. The other highlight is the Security Council Chamber where so many monumental decisions have been made. The 9/11 memorial is a somber and moving experience. The memorial has the names of everyone who died inscribed on it and reading those names connects the visitor with the gravity of the loss on that horrible day.
