American White Pelicans

The American White Pelican is a magestic bird. This pelican has a massive 9 foot wing span. In late September of 2017, I found large groups of them in the San Francisco Bay marsh lands. I'm not clear if the pelicans are migrating or the bay is their overwintering grouds. The maps I've seen show the San Francisco Bay as northern reach of their wintering grounds but I've never seen large numbers of them later in the winter.
