Bonaventure Cemetery

Bonaventure Cemetery is extremely atmospheric. It exudes the sultry Savannah ambience with its moss covered trees and stunning plot markers. The most famous person buried in the cemetery is native Savannah son Johnny Mercer. The Mercer plot has a bench that engraved with the titles of the Mercer's famous songs. The most famous marker, Bird Girl that became the iconic image of Savannah is no longer in the cemetery. Its presence caused the family plot that it marked to receive too much foot traffic and it the statue has now been relocated to the Jepson Center for the Arts.
