Andalucía, Spain
I took the classic Andalucía Tour of Grenada, Cordova, and Seville. A fortune teller on the street in Cordova tried to tell me I'd be visiting all three as proof she could see the future but one does not need to be a psychic to figure that out since those are the three cities all tourists to southern Spain go to. The highlights of all three cities are the Moorish architecture and ruins.
Granada and Cordova
This Patio of the Lions is where the classic photograph of The Alhambra is always taken. There's normally a fountain with carved lions in the center of this courtyard. The fountain was being refurbished which forced me to look for another shot. I'm pleased with how this turned out.
The Summer Palace was the most ascetically pleasing part of the Alhambra to me. While the Palacio Nazaries is more famous and ornate, it feels almost overdone. This Summer Palace is lighter and airier space that's more charming.
This later palace is out of place with the rest of The Alhambra. It's from the later Christian period and in a different setting, it would be impressive but here, it's a bit odd.
La Mezquita is an amazing space. It's huge and beautifully proportioned, at least it was until a church was stuck in the middle of the mosque after the Christian reconquest. The building is so large that the original form still comes through despite later alterations.
