The Crocker Angel is most famous sculpture at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. \u00a0The angel the is staring up at the heavens with a\u00a0bored expression on her face like she’s pondering why she’s the one to sit on a grave for eternity.<\/p>\n

This is the grave of Henry S. Crocker who\u00a0founded a printing company in\u00a0Sacramento<\/a>. \u00a0 \u00a0Hat tip to Mountain View People blog<\/a> who explained to me who Henry Crocker was. \u00a0He’s the brother of Charles Crocker who was one\u00a0the Big Four Railroad barons. \u00a0Charles Crocker has huge\u00a0monument much higher up on the hill. \u00a0 Though his brother Charles Crocker’s monument probably cost ten times as much, this much smaller marker has ten times the grace.<\/p>\n
