The original Las Vegas was the downtown Las Vegas and was centered on Fremont Street. In Vegas' early days, today's Las Vegas Strip was just a bunch of small motels along the highway, outside of the city limits. As the strip took over as the center of Las Vegas' resorts, the old downtown hotels and casinos lost mindshare and visitors. The area was revitalized in the mid-1990s with Fremont Street Experience. Fremont Street showcases the old Vegas full of neon and lights combined with the modern light and music show of the Fremont Street Experience.
