Museum of Flight

I really enjoyed the Museum of Flight. While parts of it can feel like a advertisement for Boeing, the museum has an impressive collection. The collection tells the story of the 20th century through aircraft. The WWI and WWII aircraft galleries are very extensive and the interpretive displays explain what the combat experience was like for pilots. The civilian aircraft collection is impressive as well. Many of the important civilian aircraft are included such as the DC-3. One of the highlights of the collection is the first Air Force One jet aircraft. This aircraft transported presidents from Eisenhower to Nixon.

My favorite plane was the Lockheed Model 10-E Electra. The Electra is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built. The shining fuselage combined with its curvaceous design make the plane emanate the glamour of the pre-jet age where aviators were heroes and passenger air travel was new and exciting. It's also iconic as it was the aircraft that Amelia Earhart used for her doomed around-the-world flight.
