Grand Canyon

The immensity of the Grand Canyon is hard to fathom until you've seen it for yourself. I'd figured I seen similar landscapes at Canyonlands National Parks which has dramatic cliffs carved by the same forces of erosion that made the Grand Canyon. However, the Grand Canyon is a unique wonder, unlike anywhere else on earth. As impressive as it is, the initial experience can be disappointing as during the day the canyon doesn't look like the pictures everyone has seen. The daytime light makes the canyon appear washed out. It really comes alive at sunset and sunrise. While most visitors are in the area around Grand Canyon Village, the drive out to the east entrance of the park has some of the best views.
