Iceland 2025:

South East Iceland

Our final stretch of the southern coast is the Skaftafell National Park to Höfn. The highlight of this section of the coast is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon which is absolutely stunning. The blue icebergs floating in the lagoon are an extraordinary sight. We took a boat ride on the lagoon which gave a different perspective on the lagoon.

After the lagoon, we went to Diamond Beach which is just on the other side of the outlet of the lagoon. I'd heard great things about Diamond Beach but neither the weather nor the ice was very cooperative. The diamonds are ices of the ice from the lagoon that wash up on the beach.

My biggest regret of the trip was skipping Stokksnes because it was raining. The weather wasn't cooperating but it would have been worth spending half an hour.
